THIS PRODUCT IS INTENDED FOR USE IN THE VETERINARY MARKET ONLY. NOT FOR USE OR RESALE IN ANY OTHER MARKET.
The Balfour Retractor is used to hold open the abdominal walls during surgery. The Balfour is made up of the frame with an arm on each end and a blade in the middle that can slide from side to side and be locked into place. The surgical retractor can either be self retaining or locked into place. The self retaining retractor uses the pressure from the body cavity to hold the balfour arms open during the procedure. The other style is where the arm that moves has a thumb screw on that will be tightened to lock it in place. This fixed arm will prevent any movement during the procedure. The Balfour Retractor is available in varying sizes from a Pediatric 3.5" Spread to the Large 6" Spread. The most commonly purchased style in the Middleline™ Grade. The Middleline™ combines European Steel with Pakitsan finishing to allow for a more economical alternative to the German grade.
