February is National Pet Dental Health Month

Oral health care for pets is commonly overlooked. So to help improve dental attention for pets, the AVMA and several veterinary groups are sponsoring National Pet Dental Health Month in February.

Periodontal disease is a common condition found in cats and dogs. This disease can cause major problems for pets because it lies under the gum line. It can cause gum recession, bone loss, bone infection and fractured jaws.

This all can be preventable if pet owners bring their cats/dogs into their local veterinary for regular oral health care examinations. Veterinarians will remove the plaque and tartar that's submerged under the gums surfaces, which is where the disease takes place.

Spectrum Surgical offers a variety of veterinary dental instruments from mouth mirrors and tartar scrapers to root picks and complete dental kits.
