The Spectrum Dual Chuck™ is designed to be used either as a surgical hand drill or attached to a shrouded drill to insert orthopedic pins. Spectrum Surgical Instruments Patented the Dual Chuck on February 9, 1999. The application for hand drill involves attaching the extended piece to prevent the Doctors hand from being injured from the proximal end of the pin. When being used on the Drill, there is a sterile barrier that is inserted to prevent the sterile pin from coming in contact with the non-sterile drill. The Drill Shroud also prevents the doctor from coming in contact with the non-sterile drill. There are two different sizes of the Spectrum Dual Chuck™. The Spectrum Mini Dual Chuck™ can accommodate up to a 3/16” pin. The Spectrum Dual Chuck™ can accommodate all sizes up to the 1/4” pin. Both sizes of the Spectrum Dual Chuck™ carry a lifetime warranty against manufacturing defects and workmanship.
